The Secretary-General of the Arab Maghreb Union, Dr. Taieb Bakoush, participated in the fourteenth meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Dialogue Group 5 + 5, with a delegation from the Secretariat, on 21 January in Algiers, under the theme “Western Mediterranean: Promoting inclusive, Common. ”
The meeting discussed a number of issues of common interest, especially the issue of migration in the Mediterranean region, especially from the point of departure of the coasts of the Maghreb countries.
The meeting also discussed mechanisms to support the political dialogue within the framework of 5 + 5 to raise the regional challenges facing the North and South of the Mediterranean, especially the Libyan crisis and the problem of growing terrorist threats, in addition to the security issue in the Sahel.
The participation of the Secretariat in the Fourteenth Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Dialogue Group 5 + 5 is part of its efforts to address issues related to the fight against terrorism and migration and the promotion of economic, commercial and investment cooperation with a view to regional integration.
The Secretary-General of the Federation, Dr. Tayeb Bakoush, stressed in his speech the importance of the framework 5 + 5 in the dialogue between the Western Mediterranean countries, which is characterized by flexibility and efficiency, although it is not conducive and would help to raise common challenges in all areas, especially the issues of youth and Employment, formation, immigration and security, areas that can no longer be treated as isolated from each other because of their complexity and interdependence more than ever before. It is no longer possible to separate them or treat them as isolated nationally, which requires expanding consultation and deepening Thinking to find the best solutions to them.
