At the invitation of Mr. Tayeb Bakoush, Secretary General of the Arab Maghreb Union, Mr. Cindiso Nguyenia, Secretary General of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) attended the Maghreb Colloquium organized by the General Secretariat of the Union in Tunis on 19 and 20 December 201, The study prepared on the current situation in the area of foreign trade between the Maghreb countries and the prospects for their development.
On this occasion, the two Secretaries-General of the two African organizations have memoranda of understanding and cooperation in various fields, including intra-continental trade, infrastructure, industries, agriculture, transportation, modern technologies and gender to promote women’s rights in Africa and other vital areas. With the knowledge that two Maghreb countries joined the COMESA, namely Libya and Tunisia, as well as two Arab countries, Sudan and Egypt.
This form of cooperation among African countries in eight regional groupings recommended by the African Union, which is the eight regional groupings are essential pillars in the process of African integration.
