Secretary General of the Arab Maghreb Union meets with the President of the Presidential Council of the National Reconciliation Government

The Secretary General of the Arab Maghreb Union Mr. Taieb Baccouche met with Mr. Sarraj Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Reconciliation this Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the headquarters of the Council in the capital Tripoli. He was accompanied by a delegation of the General Secretariat and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mohamed Eltaher Siala.

The Secretary-General said he was pleased to meet the President and expressed his optimism for a solution close to the Libyan crisis after the security and safety of the capital Tripoli.

Mr. Baccouche said that he would like the President to call for the holding of the Maghreb Summit in order to overcome this stalemate experienced by the Union whose presidency this year in Libya, adding that the General Secretariat has not stopped to work and develop studies and proposals that encourage integration between the different member states.

The President welcomed the Secretary-General and his delegation, expressing regret for the advancement of the Union, and added that he would work in a practical way through consultation to overcome the obstacles that hinder the summit. . Everyone will be put in front of his responsibility, in the hope of reacting the member states to hold a summit in the Libyan capital Tripoli, The summit will be the beginning of a real activation of the institutions of the Union and will serve the integration strategy between its countries.
